Hackers hit Vesuvius , British engineering firm shuts down affected systems
Vesuvius, a molten metal flow engineering company listed on the London Stock Exchange, says it has been hit by a cyber attack. This morning, Vesuvius issued an alert that it is “currently managing a cyber incident.”
For now, details are scarce. There is still no indication of the extent of the problem, or which IT systems may be affected by the attack at the company that produces ceramics for the steel industry.
There is no description of the nature of the attack, and whether the company has received any form of communication from its attackers.
Shares of Vesuvius, which employs more than 10,000 people, were down 3.8% in early trading.
